In the previous episode, Sawa almost kissed Kitano in the rain only to have him push her away. Sawa then came to her senses and fled away.
As for Rikako who’s trying to pursue the artist Kato, he demanded her to strip outside at the garden. I actually thought for a second that she would but apparently, she could only do it till her underclothes. So it was quite obvious that she still has some dignity and couldn’t bring herself to expose herself like that. I’m not sure whether I should say this is the first time Rikako showed her vulnerability as a woman or strength.
Kato is one tough guy to crack. It’s gonna take more than being naked model to get to him, Rikako.
The teacher, Kitano has a pretty wife, Noriko who is a holding a much higher post than him, obviously earning more too as an Associate Professor. I totally can relate to her being obsessed with work, love her husband but just hate cooking and cleaning. Thing is, there’s no law saying women has to know how to cook right? Kitano doesn’t even show any affection towards Noriko n the scenes at home from what I see.
Sawa’s husband was still worried about Hamumi (their beloved hamster) who ran away from the cage. I thought their conversation at home where Sawa was slightly ticked off by her husband being too worried about their pet getting cold from the rain. He apologized promptly and I thought that was a nice gesture seeing that he just wanted to calm Sawa down. So now, her mother-in-law posed a question we all want answers to as well. Why exactly Sawa and her husband has no children until now? Her husband never gave a direct answer but we only know they lead a sexless marriage? I was thinking it had more to do with one of them being infertile or something.
But that doesn’t change the fact that he was slowly being drawn towards an affair with his female colleague who is pushing, basically, shoving herself to him.
A highlight of the episode was when all three women gathered at Rikako’s house for dinner. Even though all the husbands were invited, they didn’t show up because of lack of interest to mingle with strangers. Hence, call it safe or not, because Sawa at this point, didn’t know Noriko is Kitano’s wife so well, maybe it’s better not to know too much.
The highlight I was talking about, the girls ended up talking about their affairs. I think this is something bound to happen when girls gather, it’s called girl talk. Rikako wasn’t hiding anything and confessed that she has someone else in her mind while Sawa talked about falling in love with her teacher back in school. Noriko had an affair with a Professor who was married before she got married.
Rikako hasn’t given up on Kato yet. She made visits to his place and baked breads/cookies for him. Kato was fired by Rikako’s husband who I believe had some inkling that his wife was too interested with Kato.
“I was hurt, when I saw you sharing an umbrella.”
Was that a confession?!
In the meantime, so it seemed Kato finally gave in to Rikako?
Lots of conflict about to happen. Wait till Rikako’s husband find out about her affair. I’m not sure how I feel about all these affairs yet. These characters are posed as being unhappy with their current lives. But I still think that they should end their current marriages before getting into another relationship. That being said, I’m not agreeing with their actions so far but that’s exactly what this show is about.
