Is Nozomi turning into a person who can lie about something so effortlessly and go on living like nothing happened? Remember what his father told her before when she went to ask for money? I guess that resonated now when she revealed something to Masato. It was during the diving session they did with the Noguchi pair when she actually turned off the oxygen flow of Naoko (Noguchi’s wife). She did it in order to get closer to the Noguchis, who later on thanked them for saving Naoko’s life and invited them over. Nozomi’s action is kind of worrying because it may result in her doing more and more things just to achieve a certain goal. Of course, thanks to her action, they were able to secure a chance to get along with the Noguchis, which ultimately saved Nobara Apartment. However, that was risky because it might actually cost a life.
I think Nozomi is kind in person and there’s a certain value she upholds but because of the tragic circumstances that happened in her family, it had somehow turned her into someone who is more than determined to get her goal. Always thinking of getting higher and higher. She also developed a phobia towards her own mother, similar to Masato’s case. So I think Masato can relate to her fear and probably the only one who she can share some of her dark past and such. I can’t help but think Ando is too innocent and unscathed to be with Nozomi.
While getting along with Naoko, Noguchi also had taken a liking towards Nozomi. Not in the romantic way, yet, but he asked for her help in something. Naoko saw their interaction and from her face, I think she suspected that Noguchi might come to like Nozomi. There’s also the fact that Noguchi doesn’t play shogi with females, as described by Naoko. So what was Nozomi doing in the room with shogi on the night of the murder? Initially, I was thinking that Nozomi was perhaps playing with Noguchi, but now it seemed unlikely. Except maybe Noguchi has changed along the way and came to enjoy playing shogi with Nozomi.
It’s good to know though that Nozomi was still keeping in touch with her younger brother who was attending university. Apparently, her mother was planning to remarry. He also told her about a rumor regarding Naruse. He hadn’t been going to university.
Then we got a bit of an update on Naruse. One day, while he was doing that part-time job, he was caught red-handed. Well, too late to re-consider about your actions, Naruse. Such a nice kid but he got himself involved in such activity. WHY? WHY? WHY? I was very disappointed with his decision to be honest.
Takano, the policeman, had been trying to find doctors in Tokyo to heal his wife. I can’t imagine what a huge blow it was to him, having to watch his wife suddenly just lost the ability to speak because of trauma. 14 years is a very long time. While Natsue (his wife) seemed to have accepted this fate, Takano refused to give up. Natsue also seemed to keep a dark secret within herself and I think Takano felt that too. It must be related to the fire.
At the end of the episode, Ando met Takano and told him Masato might not be the murderer. He provided a piece of information that was probably not documented in the police investigation, Masato’s fear of fire. Hence, there was no way he could have obtained the candle holder (but what if there wasn’t a candle or fire?)
Someone sent money to Nozomi and saying sorry for not being able to meet her.
Finally, Takano found where she stayed.
This is the face of a man who will not give up or care how long it takes until he unravels the truth.
