I LOVE this drama. So much that every episode is just too short! By the time it ends, I’m always taken by surprise because I never realize time flies. So engrossing and when it’s over, I want more and can’t wait for the next episode.
It’s always packed with series of situations that make you laugh out loud and a good balance between serious and comical scenes. I like the subject they’re touching on as well and it doesn’t bore me even one bit.
Daisuke’s father always brings some sort of seafood into the house and this time, squids. In the bathtub. Because he wants to only cook it fresh, much to Daisuke’s disgust and shock. In this episode, we also get more development about Hanako’s ex-husband who wants to get back together. Besides that, Naruhodo Girl is also infatuated by Daisuke (god knows why lmao) who actually visits his condo, meets Yozo and he’s delighted because his hope of wanting his son to get married seems possible after all.
Sasaki is also making advances towards Hanako, guy actually calls her straight and asks to date her. Gosh, the way he explains his status being single and his family members to Hanako freaks (or rather) annoys Hanako that she just cuts him off saying, “No way.”
Oh yes, did I mention about Naruhodo Girl? To be honest, I’ve never been impressed with Kiko Mizuhara’s acting but she’s really hilarious in this show. I bet the director asks her to keep smiling widely and pouting those lips (like ducks). She nails her bimbo character and is so on-point I can’t help but just laugh whenever she appears on-screen.
I also like the usage of the elevators at the condominium in every episode because that presents an opportunity for conversation and it feels realistic anyway because they live at the same building.
Irie finally tells everybody that he’s married and of course, they’re shocked because they all thought he’s single all along, including me. When asked what is the trigger, he says it’s because of a dog. There’s a dog his wife really likes and the rules for adopting strays are strict. They don’t allow it if owners are couples just living together because if they break up, their pets might be abandoned again. So it’s more convincing if they’re married. They end up marrying by registering but without any ceremony.
Both Yozo and Sasaki then get all excited and suggest that they plan a wedding ceremony to celebrate for Irie. They call Akane (Irie’s wife) and instead of being annoyed, she’s moved to tears hearing the plan because she’s been waiting for Irie to do a proper ceremony.
Daisuke’s expression…totally understandable! I’d be really annoyed too at how absurd this event unfolds lol
Megumi still isn’t confident enough to fulfill her promise with Yozo (not sure what promise this is) but it clearly disappoints Kota. But at least Kota’s attending school and doesn’t look like he’s being bullied.
I think one of the more important developments in this episode is what actually happened between Hanako and her ex-hubby, Kazuya. Hanako never blames Kazuya for the downfall of their marriage, even though she seems to avoid meeting him at all cost. At some point, she even looks guilty for the divorce as if it’s her own fault.
The scene at the restaurant is quite nicely done and Daisuke, despite being annoyed by Hanako’s complaints about his company’s stationery, he actually helps her this time. Hanako has been complaining about various things about her favorite bistro out of her love for the place (as she puts it) and so the waiter who knows her, indirectly blames her for the decreasing customers like it’s caused by her complaints. This makes Hanako embarrassed and she’s ready to leave when Daisuke wonders out loud whether it’s really because of her complaints/reviews that the bistro is suffering now.
Daisuke then begins to do what he does best, nitpick on things he observes. He goes on saying how the table is not balanced, the glasses have fingerprints etc. He wonders if the service quality that has gone down may be the cause of fewer customers. The chef appears and apologizes to Hanako.
I’m just real curious about the cause of her divorce. Kazuya doesn’t seem like a bad guy and there’s no hint of him being a jerk since Hanako still defenses him. Kazuya mentions he still wants to get back together with Hanako and he doesn’t mind it just being the two of them. Hanako almost wants to blurt something…but Kazuya interrupts. So here’s what I think. Considering how Hanako says how Kazuya really wants to build a family and then him saying he’s fine with just the two of them, Kazuya probably wants kids and something happens and they couldn’t have kids? Is that reason enough for their divorce? Hanako probably can’t have kids? Remember the previous episode at the party where she gets easily annoyed or hurt in some way and says she likes kids. This just my prediction judging from her interaction with Kazuya so far.
Daisuke seems to have another huge burden on his plate to take care of…or get rid of lol
Next episode seems to revolve around Irie and his wife. We’ll see if the wedding ceremony will commence as planned. And I bet we’ll be seeing a very annoyed Daisuke HAHA
Until the next episode!
