This is going to be my shortest first impression ever.
Wait for it.
Wait for it.
I AM FRIGGIN DISAPPOINTED THERE IS NO NASI GORENG AT ALL IN THIS ENTIRE EPISODE.
NOT EVEN A GLIMPSE OF IT.
WHERE IS THIS?
Okay that aside, I really don’t know what’s the point of this drama…
I don’t really wanna say it out loud, it’s not terrible per se and given this is a late night drama (23 mins), I should know better it’s not gonna be mainstream but actually requires an acquired taste. Even so, I had the exact same face as Paruru the entire show.
It doesn’t help either when the cops are debating like it’s the mystery of the century whether or not the guy on screen is an obaasan or ojisan.
So Paruru’s this smart cop (Head of the Nasi Goreng Division) who has a good eye for things that don’t stick out. Long story short, a look at a picture or person, she can deduce plenty of information. Thanks to that, they don’t need to step out of their office and do all the shit normal cops do. That’s basically it.
The worst part is when they randomly goes into karaoke mode near the end of the questioning which makes no sense at all.
I was just curious because of the Nasi Goreng title and it would’ve been fine even if ‘fried rice’ doesn’t make an appearance but this is a disaster. It’s like watching amateur play onstage. Stiff and awkward acting. I almost felt embarrassed for the veterans.
P.S Sorry if I sound harsh and no offense to Paruru fans (if any of you are lurking around). I’ve seen her do better than this, even Yutori desu ga Nani ka showed some improvement but this is bad. Actually, the script itself is bad and it must have taken such great power for anyone to green light this.
