MOZU ep 2 [review]

I’ve been putting off Mozu for quite a while. Well, it’s time to get back on track.

MOZU Season 1 ep02 (848x480 x264).mp4_snapshot_28.12_[2014.05.04_19.16.37]

Kuraki keeps pursuing Athena Security’s president who he believes is chasing after Shingai. He even tried framing him with his own gun but that obviously didn’t work out. The president has someone bigger backing him up and Kuraki’s little police position can do nothing.

On the other hand, Miki is waiting for Shingai to show up. Shingai returns to his apartment, which is a mess. The people from Athena Security try to assassinate him but failed again. To be honest, I’m getting a bit tired of these people who keep on hunting for Shingai and always, always, always fail to kill him! You don’t hire a bunch of amateurs to kill a professional killer. You just don’t and it’s disappointing to see that’s all Athena Security can do. Meh…

I’m a bit sad the fact that Ryota keeps getting sidelined in this case. No matter how much he approaches Miki, he still can’t get anything out of her.

Keep on chasing, Ryota! You’ll get there!

Miki follows Shingai who escapes from his pursuers.

Just who the hell is Shingai’s mysterious sister?! Does she even exist?

Shingai keeps getting fragmented flashbacks and finds himself at an apartment he feels like he has been to. He even knows where the hidden spare key is. We’re wondering whether this is his sister’s house afterall? But nobody’s home.

Miki appears and tries to strike a conversation with him. Shingai invites her inside and we all know where this will lead to. Miki just dug her own grave, didn’t she?

So, according to Miki, Shingai is NOT the bomber. This is the biggest revelation of the episode and really all that matters.

Thoughts:

The pace is alright for this episode. Afterall, it’s only the 2nd episode. The only thing I don’t really like is the part where the countless attempts to kill Shingai always seem to fail. I know they’re supposed to be fail (Shingai can’t die yet), but it’s becoming very tiring and pointless to watch.

I feel there’s not enough Ryota too. Considering how he’s one of the 3 main characters, his role is really minor, except for the minimal comic relief. I think what keeps me going for this show is the mysterious little sister. I think the girl from episode 1 holds a major clue, I even thought she might be Shingai’s sister. Well, we don’t know yet but there’s no doubt she’ll shed some light on this.
